Dear Mr Mccaleb: Thank you for your message regarding email addresses assigned to public officials. I do have an email address assigned to me - obviously - & I try to treat it with respect. I recognize that I will only be using this address while I am serving in public office. I acknowledge that I do not own this or any other property that belongs to the state, including my computer, for example.

If I were to misuse any property owned by the state - which means the citizens of Mississippi - I hope someone would let me know. I get up everyday & try to do the right thing in my job & in my life. Sometimes I make mistakes - being human - but my intention is always to try to do right.

I am sorry if you have had some unpleasant experiences with public officials, which it seems you might have done. Serving as a public official is sometimes a fantastic experience & sometimes a stressful experience. Some people handle stress better than others. I - being human - have my good days & bad days & I try to only subject my family to the bad days (they have to love me no matter what), & to spare the public when I am having a bad day.

Please let me know if there is something I may do to help you at a legislative level. Unfortunately there are limits to how I can aid my constituents but I do try. It seems you are trying to provide a service to the public with your web page. I hope you too have more good days than bad days.

Yours truly,

Deborah Dawkins

Thank you for your email.

I was very impressed at your insight towards elected officials and web addresses not being owned by them.

I was also impressed at how you understood how I have had unpleasant experiences with public officials, and there have been many.

I was very impressed at how you understand that I am providing a service to the public with my web site.

I cannot express to you, at how excited I felt, when I read your email. In fact, I was so excited and impressed, that I am going to use your words as a, “measure of a public officials.”

I will contact you if I ever need anything, which you can help me with, but for now please keep reading my web pages.

Sincerely,

Steven A. McCaleb

Mayor Robert Bass · Long Beach, MS · Long Beach Harbor has tremendous potential for new development. What is the best process to identify a strategic plan for the site?

Not much for a mayor to say for someone wanting to be a state senator.

Is this the person you intend to vote for, and if so, why?

Long Beach, Mississippi has one year to make up $650,000 - the same amount the Mayor and Aldermen voted against (5 to 2), February 19, 2002  - http://www.mississippiwebsite.com/lbmakeup.htm

Why would the, "Associated Builders & Contractors Inc." indorse Robert Bass, perhaps the ABC needs favors if he is elected.

Robert Bass, a Republican candidate for District 48 Senate seat, has been endorsed by the Mississippi Associated Builders and Contractors Inc. MABC represents the contractors and builders in the state. Bass faces Democratic candidate Deborah Dawkins in the Nov. 4 general election.
