Why would the USM Senate Faculty support President, Horace Fleming unless they have something to gain.
It's like politics, the people most likely to gain from the renewal of a person's contract are all ways the most vocal. Example ( Democrats and Republicans )
I believe President, Horace Fleming has attempted to do the right things for USM, but since I know him to be dishonest and corrupt I must request his contract not be renewed.

Senate resolution Given recent public speculation that Dr. Horace Fleming's contract as President of the University of Southern Mississippi will not be renewed, the USM Faculty Senate wishes to make it clear that the Faculty of the University strongly advocates the renewal of Dr. Fleming's four-year contract and his retention as President of the University. Dr. Fleming has been a forceful advocate for the university during his four-year term as president.

HATTIESBURG - The USM Faculty Senate on Tuesday added its voice to those declaring support for university President Horace Fleming.
If I have something to gain from the renewal of President Horace Fleming's contract renewal, I would support him also.
After a lengthy session in a sweltering room, faculty members passed a resolution endorsing Fleming, who has come under fire from some of the university's alumni.
I did not know the USM Faculty Senate was a political body.
What happens now, does there endorsement go before the House and Senate in Jackson for approval or disapproval.
Is the USM faculty Senate a party of the Democrats or Republicans?
"Emotions were running somewhat high," said Darlys Alford, a faculty member and Ocean Springs resident, of Tuesday's session. "It was a meeting in which our president, Susan Hubble, encouraged and made sure everyone had a voice. That's why it took so long."
I wonder if there meeting was a closed door meeting, like the ones our legislatures go into.
Remember when the legislature voted to double there Retirement Benefit Package, this was a closed door session. (corruption at its highest)
Next week, the College Board will conduct a performance review of Fleming, whose contract has expired. Pam Smith, spokeswoman for the board, said she wasn't sure whether the board would decide to extend Fleming's contract immediately after the review.
I do not know if President Horace Fleming will be renewed or not, all I can do is tell my side of the why I vote ( NO ).
Being responsible for a SCAM organization ( WRANPS ) which has the smell of pure politics (please read my we pages).
I have several email request too Horace Fleming request his assistants in the matter of getting paid for the work completed at WRANPS.
But he has fail to provide any support on my request.
The review comes at a time when cuts in state funding have forced the USM faculty to go two years without raises and squeezed academic and athletic programs.
I would like to know who did receive raises, you know the upper echelon in the educational field will not give up there raises.
"It is my opinion that the financial resources of USM, both academic and athletic, are not being placed in areas that will generate our greatest return on investment," said Steve Strickland, a Jackson USM alumnus who is leading the charge against Fleming.
I do not know Mr. Steve Strickland, but it sounds like he is on the right track.
I hope he is successful in his quest, and if he is not I hope I am.
Fleming has said he won't comment on the matter until after his review.
He may not comment, but I am sure he is politicking for himself behind the scenes.
After emergency meetings Saturday, the university foundation issued a strong endorsement of Fleming, while the alumni association only asked that the College Board "treat Dr. Fleming with the respect and dignity to which he is entitled."
Respect and dignity, what does that mean?
Instead of sending him a pink slip, you tell him in person.
Have him read or see his disapproval through the newspapers and television.
In the aftermath of the sessions, College Board President Bill Crawford has received letters, calls, faxes and e-mails supporting and criticizing Fleming, Smith said.
I am pretty sure the College Board President Bill Crawford knows my views on the matter of President Horace Fleming contract renewal.
If not I will ask that someone point him too my web pages.
"(Crawford) indicated there was a fair amount (of communications)," Smith said. "He didn't say we were inundated."
INUNDATED: snowed under, swamped, flooded, rushed off your feet, hectic, idle
That is good news, I would hate to think the College Board did not have time to work on this important problem.
In its endorsement, the Faculty Senate praised Fleming for his efforts to bring a four-year program to the university's Gulf Coast campus and his campaign to raise $100 million.
I live in Long Beach, and I do not support the four-year program.
We have enough colleges on the Coast to provide a good education, the 2 plus 2 program is a good program.
Universities have gotten so expensive for some Mississippian's to attend USM here on the Coast, I would think this would me a more important issue.
"Several times, people said this meeting will be the most important meeting the faculty has ever had," Alford said.
If this is the most important meeting the faculty has ever had, perhaps the faculty need to be reviewed on all of there past meeting.
Since they were not important, why did they have the meetings.
"One of the things that is gratifying to me is to see who in the university has embraced the dual-campus issue," said James "Pat" Smith, a well-known Coast history professor. "That has been a revolutionary, new strategic direction for this university. I believe every single person in this room thought that aspect deserved real endorsement."
What was it I said about having something to gain, here is a great example.
Since state funding has forced the USM faculty to go two years without raises how will USM pay for more educators.
There has been speculation that opposition to Fleming has been led by supporters of North Mississippi universities wanting to stop resources from being diverted to Hattiesburg or Long Beach. But Strickland said the real opposition to Fleming was home grown.
All money should be divided equally to each university, and if this is not be done there should be opposition.
"This movement has nothing to do with (Mississippi) State or Ole Miss representatives," he said. "It is being brought about by Southern Miss supporters."
I am hoping there is more opposition than there is support, I am hope with a new USM President I can get paid for the work I completed on USM land and remove the corrupted WRANPS.
Jimmy Heidelberg is a member of the Eagle Club, an athletic-minded alumni association of which Strickland is also a member. He said he didn't know of a movement in the group to oust Fleming.
What is this, someone left in the dark.
"The people I talk to and deal with have not voiced any complaints about Dr. Fleming," Heidelberg said.
He must be only talking to the USM Faculty Senate.
The university's staff council, which represents
1,500 non-academic employees, meets at 9:30 a.m. today to discuss Fleming's
situation.
I want to express my feeling toward the contract renewal of USM President Horace Fleming.
I do not support his contract renewal because of how I have been treated.
If Horace Fleming will ignore me in the way he has, he might treat other people the same way.
This is not how a university president conducts business, and therefore should be replaced.
