When Renick was in the Senate, the attorney general's office and the state Ethics Commission filed a conflict-of-interest lawsuit against him, stemming from his time as a county supervisor. The suit sought repayment of $93,064, claiming Renick's private trucking company made the money as a result of supervisors' actions. Attorney General Mike Moore said the suit was dismissed.

I am worried why it is the Governor has hired a chief of staff
which has had charges filed against him by the Ethics Commission.

June 12, 2001

JACKSON -Bill Renick of Ashland, a former state senator and lobbyist known for his offbeat sense of humor, started work Wednesday as Gov. Ronnie Musgrove's chief of staff.

It is nice to know that our Governor's new chief of staff has an offbeat sense of humor.

I believe Bill Renick is being paid a salary which way to much.

Renick, 47, will act as a go-between for the governor and legislators, whose relations were strained at the end of the recent session by clashes over the state budget.

A "go-between" is a person meaning: soother, mediator, peacemaker, troublemaker

It seems too me that ever since Ronnie Musgrove was voted in as Governor by the 83% of the democrat's he has been ineffective.

Since the Governor was not voted in by the voters & taxpayers of Mississippi, perhaps our lawmakers saw a way to run there own agenda.

"Bill will be an extremely strong, credible voice with the Legislature and with the people," Musgrove said Wednesday. "Bill is a person of the people. He has a good sense of the pulse of Mississippi. I think that will serve our administration well and I think it will serve the people of Mississippi well."

"Bill is a person of the people"

I don't know Bill Renick, I have never meet him so why would the Governor tell me he is a person for the people.

Bill Renick is a politician, and I believe the voters & taxpayers of Mississippi know how politician take care of themselves.

He will give us the impression that he is person for the people, but in the end he will he will take care of his party (democrats).

Renick will make $125,000 a year. The governor makes $101,800.

Governor Ronnie Musgrove must be in deep trouble to hire a person and pay him more money than he makes.

The $125,000 a year money is our tax money, I wonder if the Governor thought about that before he offered Bill Renick the $125,000.

It's only money, isn't that what most politicians think, since it's not there money and they also know it is an unlimited supply.

I recently ask for an received six (6) pages of records from the Department of Marine Resources/Tidelands. I was charged $1.50 per page ($9.00) to obtain records which are public knowledge.

Why do we have to pay a second time for public records, your tax money had already paid for the records once.

Do all Mississippi State Agencies honestly believe that we the people do not know how much paper is wasted each day.

Between making copying mistakes, copying there own personal records, and just throwing copy paper away. I believe if you request records for any state agency you should not have to pay twice.

The former lawmaker replaces David Cole, who resigned in early April and is returning to the presidency of Itawamba Community College.

I wonder why David Cole resigned, is the Community College going to pay him $125,000 a year?

Renick most recently was president of the Mississippi Retail Association and has lobbied for several groups, including BellSouth and the state pawnbrokers association.

I don't think Bill Renick's past work records is what I would call stellar.

I wonder what Bill Renick's salary was when he was president and lobbyist.

Musgrove and Renick, both Democrats, were elected to the Senate in 1987. Renick served one term before choosing not to seek re-election. Musgrove served two terms in the Senate and one as lieutenant governor before becoming governor in 2000.

Does the words: The Mississippi's political system is a "Good Ole Boy" system.

Perhaps hiring Bill Renick is not the best choice for the job as chief of staff to the Governor, but that does not matter.

I have shown corruption all through my web site: www.mississippiwebsite.com

Renick was an Ashland alderman and mayor and a Benton County supervisor before winning a Senate seat. He was administrator of Holly Springs Memorial Hospital for five years.

"Renick was an Benton County supervisor"

Their must be something about County Supervisors, we have five (5) here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Harrison County which need to be removed by the Governor.

But as I have said, The Mississippi's political system is a "Good Ole Boy" system.

After leaving the Senate, he had several jobs, including serving as an administrative assistant to former Lt. Gov. Eddie Briggs, a Republican. Musgrove defeated Briggs in 1995. Renick also ran Ashland's water and sewer service.

Now that being a politician has become a business, I say that because elected officials and state agencies no longer serve the people.

REMEMBER: MONEY, POWER, & PERKS + FRAUD, WASTE, & ABUSE = CORRUPTION

"I have been unstopping sewer lines when other people were running for governor," Renick said Wednesday, cutting his eyes at Musgrove.

But what does that have to do with being hired by the Mississippi Governor's.

Asked whether that experience will help in his new political job, Renick deadpanned, "I would think there could be some sewer unstoppage."

Only the voters & taxpayers of Mississippi can unstop the sewers in Mississippi.

I believe there are enough stopped up sewers in Mississippi, and I am hopping the voters will vote all elected official which has been in office two terms.

Musgrove laughed.

Normal response, they may have gone to a bar and had a beer together.

It seems like Attorney General Mike Moore defends all County Supervisors.

Why is Mike Moore still in office, hasn't he been there long enough; it's time for a change.

Sen. Lynn Posey, D-Union Church, said Renick has remained in touch with lawmakers through lobbying.

And now he is getting paid $125,000 a year with the voters & taxpayers of Mississippi.

"To my knowledge, he has an excellent working relationship with the House and the Senate," Posey said.

A good working relationship in Mississippi may mean that I have enough information on elected officials and state agencies that you better take care of me.

He said Musgrove's decision to hire Renick "is probably as smart a move as he has made."

I would not vote for Senator Lynn Posey if I were the voters.

Something is not right here!

Musgrove said he doesn't know when he'll fill the deputy chief of staff's job that also has been vacant since April.

Bill Renick of Ashland, a former state senator and lobbyist known for his offbeat sense of humor, started work Wednesday as Gov. Ronnie Musgrove's chief of staff.

Did I miss something?

Renick is known as a prankster. Briggs said Renick showed up on the Senate floor once wearing a fuzzy blue Cookie Monster suit.

It good the Bill Renick has a sense of humor, and now he can laugh all the way to the bank.

$125,000 a year, and the teacher in Mississippi get a bonus pay raise because of our elected officials placing the word "may" instead of  "will".

That's taking care of Mississippi's Educational problems, since Mississippi is usually last of 50 out of 50 states in education.

"He got tired of working and wanted to change everybody's focus, I guess," Briggs said with a chuckle.

Remember: MONEY, POWER, & PERKS + FRAUD, WASTE, & ABUSE = CORRUPTION

And having in place the "good ole boy" political system in order not to serve the voters & taxpayers is a good deal for elected officials & state agencies.
