Nissan Altima S 2.5 of Picayune MS

I went too Picayune, Mississippi, and purchased a new Red, 2010 Nissan Altima 2.5 S Sedan, for less money than anywhere on the coast.

AFTER GOING TO PAT PECK HONDA TOO PURCHASE A HONDA CR-V LX FOR HALF PRICE

I FOUND OUT THAT IT'S ONLY A LEASE VEHICLE, BUT THE BELOW AD DOES NOT SAY A LEASE VEHICLE ON CR-V'S AND OTHERS, ONLY CIVIC LX AND ACCORD LX.

SO I AM STILL SHOPPING FOR A HONDA CR-V FOR HALF PRICE AS ADVERTISED.

February 4th, 2010 - 5:35pm

Received a phone call back from the General Manager, Pat Peck Honda, wanting to know if their was anything they could do to smooth over this problem.

I explained that yes, if you will honor your advertisement for half price Honda I will purchase a CR-V like the one we looked at and drove.

He stated that he would be glad to sell me a Honda CR-V for half price as a lease.

I explained how after three years on the lease that I would still not own the vehicle and still owe over 13 thousand in order to own the vehicle. (see lease below)

He stated that he could not help that if people could not understand what they were reading, and that tells me he is calling me stupid.

This is the non-half price for a Honda CR-V, they stated that they did not have to make any deals because CR-V's at the hottest selling vehicles on the lot.

Vehicle should be a Honda CR-V LX not an EX

I received the below letter by email, please read and perhaps you will better understand how Pat Peck Honda treats its customers.

I just read your info and comments on your website regarding your experience with Pat Peck"s false and deceptive advertising of their "sale".

I'm glad there are still individuals (other than myself) who will take a stand to expose fraud, corruption, or injustice when they see it.

I agree with you.  I have seen Pat Peck's ad on WLOX where the clearly say, "Half price
SALE", not "Half price LEASE".

Of course most of us already know that car dealers still continue to use any deceptive and misleading false gimmick, no matter how illegal it may be,  to get you to their showroom.  But fraud is still fraud no matter how often we witness car dealers continue to practice false advertising with no shame.  I guess the general public has become conditioned to accept deception from car dealers through over exposure to their perpetual lies.

Car Dealers like Pat Peck are empowered in their illegal antics simply because nobody ever takes any action against them for false advertising, including the Federal Trade Commission, FCC, or any other regulatory or consumer agency.  You could file a complaint online with the FTC, but the sad truth is that it will probably only result in a minor irritation or inconvenience to Pat Peck without ever changing their deceptive habits.  Otherwise, the only serious threat to them would be filing a lawsuit for deception and fraud, however they know nobody will do so because of the expense and aggravation involved...so that makes them even more smug and secure to boldly keep up their trickery!

Keep up the good work.  You've already hit upon one of the most effective ways to fight back...that is exposing the truth by promoting awareness and using the internet to tell the world "buyer beware" when dealing with dealers!
