REMEMBER: MONEY, POWER AND PERKS + FRAUD, WASTE, AND ABUSE = CORRUPTION IN MISSISSIPPI

THE WILDLIFE REHABILITATION & NATURE PRESERVATION SOCIETY, INC.

(WRANPS)

It very hard to get the truth out of Katy Pope, below is an example

E-MAIL

Dear Mr. Mccaleb,

As I explained to you before...... I am no longer associated with the WRANPS association - haven't been since 2003--- and do not live in the state of Mississippi!!
Therefore your emails are serving no purpose. I do not know who is currently involved with the organization or do not have any contact with the organization so your "harassments" are on deaf ears and are simply deleted.
Please discontinue sending me emails. Thank you!!!
About Katy's World..

Currently I am living in Starkville, Mississippi. It probably isn't on the map, but for now it is suitable since I am on the road to becoming a veterinarian. So, I am living here until I graduate from veterinary school in 2007.  For the past five years I was employed as Wildlife Center Director at WRANPS, where I gained valuable experience working with wild birds, mammals, and reptiles. I blame that place for putting such wild notions of pursuing a career with animals into my head- I thought I would like studying all day long.....
The photos of wildlife on this page were all taken during my time at WRANPS, as they are just a few of many animals that breezed through our doors. Most reasons for admission were as a direct result of people; cars, dogs, cats, unnecessary "orphans", marine debris and many more. Most individuals do not have enough information on our native wildife and it is best if you do find a wild animal to consult a professional state (for mammals and reptiles) and federally (birds, endangered species) permitted wildlife rehabilitator. Too often mistakes are made by caring individuals who actually kidnap the wild animal babies from their parent (since they don't understand their natural history) or cause them harm (by attempting to care for them illegally on their own with not enough skill or expertise). Unfortunately our wildlife suffers at the hands of humans as our planet becomes overpopulated. Working as a wildlife rehabilitator has given me an insight into wildlife issues and will help me become a more educated veterinarian in the future with regards to wild animals.

I have no idea who is on the WRANPS organizational board these days. I was never the President or Chairman of the Board of the Directors. I was an employee, wildlife center director, and left in 2003.

Katy

The Director, Katy Pope, is the only salaried staff member and is instrumental in keeping the organization together.

Hi,

As you can see a lot of these websites are outdated. Mr. Lavigne killed himself a few years ago. I will email the site and see if they can remove me. They usually don't keep up with the sites or update them too often.

You rate your own web page, and that not a good thing!!

2001 web pages

WRANPS has been in existence for 17 years on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and provides proper care for injured and orphaned wildlife. WRANPS operates under Federal and State permits, and volunteers at the WRANPS Wildlife Center attend workshops, seminars, and other ongoing training to provide the most up-to-date treatment for the animals in their care. In 1984, more than 400 wild animals passed through WRANPS doors. Our total number of animals in 1997 was over 1200! WRANPS is a non-profit volunteer organization that depends on volunteers and donations to carry on its work. The Director, Katy Pope, is the only salaried staff member and is instrumental in keeping the organization together. She also depends heavily on volunteers to carry on our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, release, and educate.

Katy why is it that WRANPS gets grant funding and the below state-licensed facilities do not?

I add you have received an amount of $115 thousand dollars so far, but WRANPS won't pay me.

I will be contacting the below Mississippi Wildlife Rehabilitation, Inc., they should know how the Secretary of state is taking care of your society.

Mississippi Wildlife Rehabilitation, Inc. is the only state-licensed facility for wildlife rehabilitation in Northern Mississippi. It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving the following Mississippi counties: Benton, Calhoun, Chickasaw, Coahoma, DeSoto, Grenada, Itawamba, LaFayette, Leflore, Marshall, Oktibbeha, Panola, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Tate, Tippah, Yalobusha. MWR relies solely on the generous donations of people like you - we receive no federal, state or municipal funding and all of our staff are unpaid volunteers. Your donations provide us with the means to continue helping the animals. All donations are tax-deductible and go directly towards helping the animals!

It seems like the grants will never end, maybe!!
