Director
VA Gulf Coast Veterans
Health Care System
welcomes new director!
Thomas J. Wisnieski
takes over as director
of the Department of
Veterans Affairs Gulf
Coast Veterans Health
Care System.
Mr. Wisnieski previously
held the position of
acting director at the
VA Medical Center in
Columbia, S.C.
Wisnieski assumed
direction of the
VAGCVHCS from Ms.
Kathleen Fogarty, who
served as interim
director since January.
Fogarty will return to
Fayetteville, Ark., as
the director of Veterans
Health Care System of
the Ozarks.
“I look forward to
serving our nation’s
veterans here on the
Gulf Coast,” Wisnieski
said. “The VA Gulf Coast
has experienced
incredible growth within
its clinics, and I’m
excited about the
system’s future.”
Since his VA career
started in 1982,
Wisnieski has held
various positions of
increasing
responsibility in VA
health care, including
leadership positions in
New York, Louisiana and
South Carolina.
Wisnieski’s education
background includes:
• 1997: Master Degree in
Public Administration
with Health Care
Emphasis from State
University of New York
at Brockport, N.Y.
• 1993: Continuous
Quality
Improvement/Facilitator
Certifications from
Rochester Institute of
Technology
• 1974: Bachelors Degree
in Sociology from
Millersville State
College, Millersville,
Pa.

VAGCVHCS is to serve the
needs of America's
veterans by providing
primary care,
specialized care, and
related medical and
social support
services. The VAGCVHCS
staff conducts this
mission from medical
facilities along the
Gulf Coast in Biloxi,
Miss., Mobile, Ala.,
Pensacola, Fla., Eglin
AFB, Fla. and Panama
City, Fla.
